Zendaya’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour offered another lesson in how celebrity fashion can become part of a film’s storytelling without becoming costume.

Working with stylist and image architect Law Roach, Zendaya moved through a series of looks that referenced the Spider-Man universe through colour, web motifs and archival pieces. In Berlin, she wore a custom Louis Vuitton look with a cropped leather waistcoat and long skirt. Rome brought an archival Giorgio Armani design with a spiderweb motif. In London, a John Galliano Spring 1997 dress introduced a subtler reference through its constellation and web-like detailing.

Then came Paris: a vintage Spider-Man T-shirt sourced from eBay for $34.99, styled with Christian Louboutin pumps, a Rolex watch and fine jewellery. The contrast was the point. A press-tour wardrobe does not need every look to be couture to feel considered.

The strategy works because Zendaya’s fashion team understands narrative. Each appearance belongs to the same story, but the clothes remain desirable independently of the film.

It is a more sophisticated version of method dressing: not dressing as a character, but dressing around an idea. In 2026, Zendaya remains one of the clearest examples of how that idea can turn a promotional tour into a genuine fashion event.
