The New Sportif: How to Style Activewear with Luxury
Performance dressing is becoming more sophisticated as activewear moves between the studio, street and social life.

Activewear has become one of fashion’s most flexible categories. In 2026, the strongest direction is not simply wearing sportswear casually, but styling performance pieces with the same attention given to tailored clothing.
Trend coverage this year has pointed to a return of early-2000s sports references, including choreographic silhouettes, logo details and layered tops. Luxury houses are also pushing the category forward. Balenciaga, for example, introduced TechWear as an activewear line designed to connect movement, performance and the city.
For a polished wardrobe, the formula is simple: let the technical piece be the casual element, then build contrast around it. A sculpted legging can sit under an oversized blazer. A track jacket can work with a long skirt. A performance sneaker can sharpen tailoring.
Singapore’s climate makes the idea especially relevant. Lightweight fabrics, breathable layers and practical footwear are not aesthetic compromises here; they are part of everyday dressing.
The trick is proportion. If one piece is tight or technical, balance it with something structured or relaxed.
The new sportif is ultimately less about looking as though you are heading to the gym and more about accepting that modern wardrobes have to move between different versions of the day.
