K-Fashion's Global Moment Keeps Building
Seoul Fashion Week's growth mirrors K-pop and K-drama's continued cultural export success.

Seoul Fashion Week has spent a quarter-century building toward a specific ambition: becoming, in the words of its own organisers, 'the next star of the K-Wave' after K-pop, film and food.
The event's growth from a modest 2000 launch to a globally watched showcase heavily shaped by Dongdaemun Design Plaza's street-fashion energy has tracked closely alongside Korean pop culture's broader international rise. That relationship cuts both ways: K-pop's global fanbase has become a genuine commercial engine for Korean fashion labels, while Seoul Fashion Week's growing international press presence has, in turn, helped position Korean design as a serious creative force rather than simply an aesthetic extension of K-pop styling.
