JENNIE’s Summer Sonic 2026 wardrobe made a strong case for the power of fashion archives.

Performing in Tokyo on 14 August, the BLACKPINK star wore two custom Calvin Klein Collection looks. The first drew inspiration from a Calvin Klein runway look originally worn by Kate Moss in 1993, while the second transformed denim references into a mini dress.

The approach is typical of the most interesting celebrity styling in 2026: the archive is not treated as a museum. It becomes source material.

JENNIE is particularly suited to this because her public image moves easily between pop performance and fashion. As a Calvin Klein friend of the house, she can make a brand’s historic codes feel connected to the present rather than simply reproduced.

The Summer Sonic setting also mattered. Festival fashion can easily become costume, but these looks kept the emphasis on denim, proportion and attitude.

For a fashion audience, the moment offers a useful lesson in how to work with heritage. You do not need to recreate the past exactly. Take its strongest idea, change the scale, change the context and make it yours.

JENNIE’s performance did exactly that.
