Amanda Heng Represents Singapore at the Venice Biennale

Amanda Heng Liang Ngim, working with curator Selene Yap, represents Singapore at the 61st International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia, running from 9 May to 22 November 2026.

For the Singapore Pavilion, Heng transforms the historic Sale d'Armi into what the pair describe as a space for rest and observation, bringing together photography, video and an architectural intervention built around deliberately ordinary actions sitting, waiting, watching. It's a fitting choice for an artist whose decades-long practice has consistently returned to the overlooked textures of daily life, and a notable milestone for a pioneering interdisciplinary figure whose international recognition has, by most accounts, long lagged her influence within Singapore's own art scene.
