Alo Yoga accelerates its Greater China expansion

Alo Yoga entered China through an exclusive Tmall flagship store in August 2026, marking a major step in the Los Angeles-founded activewear brand’s regional strategy.

Alibaba reported that the store generated more than RMB 10 million in sales within one minute of pre-sale checkout opening, setting a new opening-day record in Tmall’s sports and outdoor category.

The digital launch is being followed by a larger physical-retail plan. Recent trade reporting says Alo is planning eight additional stores across seven Greater China cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Chengdu. The stores are being positioned as “sanctuaries” combining retail with wellness and community experiences.

The strategy reflects the wider competition for China’s premium activewear consumer, where international and local brands are expanding their physical and digital presence. Alo is using a digital-first market entry while building a network intended to translate its wellness positioning into physical experiences.
