A DESIGNER IS LETTING SHOPPERS BUY HIS COLLECTION DIRECTLY OFF THE STREET IN SHOREDITCH
Saul Nash's public residency puts London Fashion Week pieces in front of everyday shoppers, not just the industry.

While most of London Fashion Week's presentations remain accessible only to press, buyers and industry professionals, designer Saul Nash is taking a genuinely different approach this season.
A public residency at the Dray Walk Gallery inside London's Truman Brewery in Shoreditch, where his AW26 Masquerade collection is available for the general public to browse and purchase directly, alongside the chance to see the designs as they were originally featured on the runway.
The residency reflects a broader, if still relatively uncommon, movement within fashion week culture toward giving ordinary shoppers - rather than exclusively industry insiders - genuine, direct access to designer collections during fashion month itself, rather than requiring them to wait months for pieces to filter through to conventional retail once a season's runway buzz has already faded.
Nash has built his design reputation on a distinctive fusion of performance-wear functionality and considered, architecturally minded tailoring, drawing on his own background in dance and movement a design sensibility that arguably benefits specifically from an accessible, browsable retail setting where shoppers can handle the garments' construction and movement-focused detailing directly, rather than only viewing them from a runway seat or a glossy campaign image.
For London's broader fashion-week identity, a designer choosing to stage direct-to-consumer retail access in a genuinely public neighbourhood setting - rather than an industry-only showroom - fits comfortably within the city's long-standing reputation for a somewhat less rarefied, more street-connected relationship between its design talent and its actual local audience than some of fashion's more exclusively industry-facing global capitals.
